Gabby Douglas Withdraws from Bid for Paris Olympics
American Olympian Ends Comeback Attempt
Three-Time Gold Medalist Retires from Gymnastics
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has withdrawn from competition at the US Gymnastics Championships, effectively ending her bid to represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer.
Douglas, 27, had been attempting a comeback after retiring from the sport in 2016. She returned to training in 2021 and competed in several events leading up to the national championships.
However, Douglas fell short of qualifying for the Paris Olympics, finishing 12th in the all-around competition at the US Championships. She announced her retirement from gymnastics shortly after.
